Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging

As per F. No. 37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009, and in exercise of powers under Section 23 read with Section 10(b), (g), (p), and (q) of the AICTE Act, 1987, AICTE prescribes regulations mandating strict disciplinary action against individuals or groups guilty of ragging in any form.

Institution-Level Punishments for Ragging
Depending on the severity of the offence, any one or more of the following penalties may be imposed:
• Cancellation of admission
• Suspension from classes
• Withholding or withdrawal of scholarship, fellowship, or other benefits
• Debarring from examinations, tests, evaluations, or withholding of results
• Debarring from representing the institution at events or competitions
• Suspension or expulsion from hostel
• Rustication for one to four semesters
• Expulsion and debarment from admission to any institution

Collective Punishment
If perpetrators cannot be identified, the institution shall impose collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community accountability and prevent recurrence.

Anti-Ragging Squad

Functioning under the Anti-Ragging Committee, the Squad maintains vigilance, conducts surprise checks, and responds immediately to reported or suspected incidents, acting as the first responder to ensure prevention within campus and hostel areas.
