ANTI-RAGGING COMMITTEE


 

Introduction

The Anti-Ragging Committee at MET Institute of Management is constituted in accordance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, AICTE norms, and SPPU guidelines. The Committee is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and ragging-free campus by preventing, deterring, and addressing any form of ragging. It oversees the implementation of anti-ragging measures, conducts awareness activities, and ensures that students can pursue their academic goals in an environment of dignity, respect, and mutual trust. The Committee functions as the principal body for monitoring compliance, handling complaints, and upholding the legal and institutional framework for the prohibition of ragging.

Objectives

  • To enforce compliance with the UGC 2009 Anti-Ragging Regulations, AICTE directives, and SPPU guidelines to ensure a completely ragging-free environment on campus.
  • To prevent incidents of ragging by creating awareness among students about legal consequences, institutional policies, and the serious nature of ragging-related misconduct.
  • To act promptly on complaints by receiving, verifying, and addressing reported cases of ragging through a fair, confidential, and time-bound procedure.
  • To organize sensitization programs, orientation sessions, and outreach activities for students and staff on the ill effects, legal implications, and preventive measures related to ragging.
  • To provide support, guidance, and counseling to victims of ragging and ensure their safety, protection, and psychological well-being.
  • To monitor vulnerable areas and maintain continuous surveillance to proactively identify and deter potential instances of ragging within campus and hostel premises.
  • To recommend disciplinary action against individuals or groups found guilty of ragging, in accordance with UGC and AICTE-prescribed penalties.
  • To maintain transparent documentation and periodic reporting to the institutional authorities and regulatory bodies as required under applicable guidelines.
  • To collaborate with the Anti-Ragging Squad and other statutory committees to strengthen preventive mechanisms and sustain a safe and respectful learning environment.
