This facts hint at a need for more Diploma courses in Pharmacy especially in Nashik where the existing courses and seats available are very few as compared to the need. In Maharashtra, there are several industrial hubs set up by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. These MIDC areas in Mumbai, Thane, Aurangabad, Pune and Nashik have numerous small, medium and large scale pharmaceutical industries. Indian pharma companies like Cipla, Dr. Reddy’s, Piramal Lifesciences, Reliance, Alkem, Indoco, Matrix, Bluecross etc have plants in Maharashtra as also multinational pharma giants like Pfizer, GSK, and Novartis to name a few. It follows that there is an enormous need for pharmacy diploma holders along with graduates and post graduates to sustain these pharmaceutical companies.
