Twelve Truths of Excellence in Teaching-Learning @METIOP

MET’s Institute of Pharmacy established in 2006 with the vision to be recognized as an institute of excellence by providing value based pharmacy education is being achieved by implementation of Effective teaching learning practice through the execution of teaching pedagogy by preparing lecture wise teaching plan for respective subjects,  course files, notes, model answers.  Advanced teaching aids like LCD projectors, Smart boards, Animations, videos, Molecular and anatomical models, Statistical software are also used.  Mobile applications are also used by faculty members to facilitate the learning.  Additionally for lateral entry students, extra lectures and practicals are conducted to cover their syllabus. As a part of continuous assessment students are given assignments to collect in depth and advanced information on various topics from the subject, thus they refer various reference books, resources from internet and discuss among themselves. As well as class tests, open book tests, viva, synopses are also being conducted. Few contents beyond syllabus are covered in theory and practicals to fulfil the curricular gaps. The conceptual clarity is tested through the Problem based learning wherein students are asked to find the probable feasible solutions for some problems/issues identified on the concepts and applications of the topic. Various charts consisting of chemical structures, types of dosage forms, body systems, varieties of medicinal plants etc. are displayed in laboratories to promote self-learning among students. Short term Certificate courses on Intellectual Property Rights, Pharmacovigilance and Hands on training on instruments and equipments are organised so as to gain additional knowledge and practical experience. Industrial, Hospitals Visits are organized to introduce to the students the current industrial technologies, to make them aware about hospital working/ patient counselling techniques etc. The Industrial trainings are organized for thorough understanding of the Industrial working related to formulation, testing, packaging, chemical synthesis methodologies. Library resources like open book access, book bank, E- journal package, National Digital library, Jaykar library and   British Council Library are available for students to enrich themselves. Students’ feedback is obtained on class room teaching at the end of every topic in the form of Topic Tracking.
